Participants pay for the 8 module program in Module 1. As each module is completed, participants will be enrolled in the subsequent modules.

 

Description

This 48 hour online certificate is for newly graduated therapists and counsellors who want to work with children/youth.

At the end of this certificate participants will:

  • Review theoretical base of psychotherapeutic counselling
  • Review social and emotional development of young people.
  • Explore the ethical and professional aspects of working therapeutically with children and adolescents
  • Work therapeutically with children and young using the arts and play.

Participants need to have access to internet and a computer to access modules in the learning management system

Module 1: Intake,  Assessment, Consent and Documentation

Module 2: The impact of trauma on Attachment styles, child and adolescent development.

Module 3: Examine key theoretical perspectives in counselling and psychotherapy for children/youth including the psychodynamic, the humanistic and the neuroscientific

Module 4: Working eco-systemically with children’s networks and contexts honouring the social location of the child

Module 5: Directive and non directive play approaches

Module: 6: Expressive Arts

Module 7: Case Conceptualization

Module 8: Therapist Self-Reflection

The fee is for the entire course. You only register online for Module 1 and as you complete assignments you are manually admitted into subsequent modules.
